Kelly Sokol

Hi! My name is Kelly Sokol. This is my second year as a Music Together teacher. Music has been a part of my life forever. I began voice and piano lessons at a young age and was always a part of choirs and performing groups, here in my native state of Colorado. I graduated from Colorado State University in 1995 with a bachelor degree in Music Therapy. Most of my working years were spent in the field of long-term care, caring for the elderly in my role as an activity director and day center supervisor. I was able to use my gift of music in my jobs and outside of work, as I sang frequently at weddings and other special functions.

I am the mother of two who have spent their lives listening to me sing and play music for them. We have been a part of many mommy and me music groups, but never Music Together. A dear friend introduced me to Music Together, as she participated in one of Xan’s groups with her son. I came to a demo group and was immediately hooked! I completed my Music Together teacher training the summer of 2007 and am so excited to share my love of music with young children in this capacity. I strongly believe in what Music Together teaches! Music is a very important part of the whole child music makes us whole and complete. The development of basic music competence is essential in a child’s development, as is learning to talk, learning to read, learning to socialize, etc. I am so happy that I will be helping families discover the joy that music can bring to their lives.
